Prospect Profile: Felix Anudike-Uzomah, DE, Kansas State
Felix Anudike-Uzomah, DE, Kansas State
FAU is a work horse. It’s shown in how well he played in a position that didn’t really fit his strengths. At 6’3” 255 lbs he isn’t small, but he played as a 3-4 defensive end and regularly lined up as a 4i technique. He faced a lot of double teams in the run game and held his own. He is a slippery defender and attacks half a man and slips doubles. When he is double and can’t slip it, he still holds his ground. When he was allowed to lineup wide he used his explosive first step and speed to fly around the edge and bend to the quarterback. He is a speed rusher but he can also bring some pop with his hands. His arms are long enough that he can convert speed to power and collapse an offensive tackle back into the quarterback. While he does have a few rush moves, a rip move to help him bend the corner and a swim when he dives inside, he can work on building that arsenal of moves and countermoves. While he was successful against the run playing a 4i, that probably won’t continue in the NFL. He will be best suited staying outside as a true 4-3 defensive end.
Projection:
Anudike-Uzomah will probably be a first round pick. He has all the tools of an elite pass rusher. I think his game translates to the NFL very well and his floor will be a solid starter.
Chiefs Fit:
It would be awesome to see FAU in a Chiefs uniform. He is a local kid from Lees Summit, Missouri and played a Kansas State. On top of being a skilled athletic rusher. He could fill the role that Frank Clark held in the defense and offer a different look in the pass rush. I think the Chiefs will need to use their first rounder and he looks worthy of the pick.
